Replacing the aging Volvo 960 sedan, S80 is a head turner in its own way. Volvo S80 is a front wheel luxury drive car first introduced in 1999. If you have noticed all Volvo models have a wagon version, S80, however was an exception and didn’t have one. When Volvo S80 was just being introduced, it was considered to be the flagship model of Volvo. Actually, S80 has been so popular that until now it is still considered to be the Volvo flagship model.
Volvo S80 was built using the Volvo P2 platform. The first two rim levels that came with this vehicle were the 2.9 and the T6. The 2.9 level held a 2.9 LI6 engine. T6, on the other hand, came with a twin turbocharged 2.8L I6 engine.
The present Volvo S80 is not only about power and performance, it is about using the most advanced technology available today to enhance the overall driving experience. The Volvo S80 today is equipped with Adaptive Cruiser Control System (ACC) system to ensure safetiness through its radar sensor which slows down the vehicle in times when the car you are following is slowing down. In addition to that, Volvo S80 also has Collision Warning and Brake Support (CWBS) that immediately alerts you with a flashing red light the traffic you are in suddenly changing. Therefore allowing you to slow down to avoid any kind of rear end crash.
