Etios Toyota Concept Car at Auto Expo Show 10 New Delhi

Toyota today unveiled its new Etios concept at the 10 Auto Expo New Delhi Show. The concept, which Toyota says is 90 percent ready, will go into production and will be available for sale in India at the end of this year.

Toyota Etios Concept (the name means “the origin of”), two volumes will be sold in Russia, South America and possibly other emerging markets.

Based on a completely new platform, the Etios will be available in both body styles hatch and Sedan. While many may think it’s rival Toyota to Tata Nano – is not. Etios cost around $ 10,000 which means that it will be a head to head with the best selling vehicles in India, Maruti Swift.

“India will have a key role in Toyota’s global expansion plans and it is time for us to accelerate our strategic growth here,” Toyota, Kazuo Okamoto, Vice President said.

Driven by the second largest population in the world, government incentives and a relatively strong domestic market, Indian car sales to grow by about 16 percent this year to 1.4 million vehicles, double after Enter double-digit growth for most of 2009.

“With the introduction of Etios, we hope to achieve a high market share in India as soon as possible,” said Sandeep Singh, deputy general manager of marketing at the local unit of Toyota, Toyota Kirloskar Motor.

Toyota has over 2,000 engineers in India and Japan have worked for four years on Etios, which is the codename EFC for entry family car.

Although the concepts, Etios pair are interpreted as close to the production release planned for late 2010. The saloon is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, the hatch a new 1.2; both engines will continue for the showroom versions.

So, the news is a full Toyota Etios Cheapy?

They built a factory, a second new specification Etios India – Indian sales are the tip of 70,000 euros per year, with exports to follow.
